Following the recent success of our U11 and U15 girls in 2017 Berkshire Cup Finals we are looking to grow our Girls Football Centre even further....

Our Girls Football Centre continues to grow ...
- Rosa Kay

Our Girls Football Centre first came about in 2011 when the young U7/U8 Ladybugs were run by Dana Johnson and Brett Wells agreed to take on a U11 girls team. The Centre has now grown so we have U15/U14, U13/U12, U11/U10 and U9/U8 teams playing weekly at Coworth Flexlands School near Sunningdale.

As well a Cup Winners, the U15 girls are also 2017 Berkshire League champions.

Each of these teams still has space to grow by 2 or 3 more players and we are also looking at starting a 'Academy' for budding girl footballers age 3 to 6. This will focus on Agility, Balance and Co-ordination in a fun and friends environment.

If you are interested in joining the BCFC girls football revolution please contact Steve at girlsfootball@berkscountyfc.com or register here.

An Explanation of Footballing Options for Girls ....

In order for us to maintain our FA Charter and to confirm sessions, all players must 'register to play'

Age groups key (it's complicated!):

U5 - Age under 5 at 1 Sept (start of football season) i.e. Preschool and UK Reception
U6 - Age under 6 at 1 Sept (start of football season) i.e. UK Year 1/US Kindergarten
U7 - Age under 7 at 1 Sept (start of football season) i.e. UK Year 2/US Grade 1
U8 - Age under 8 at 1 Sept (start of football season) i.e. UK Year 3/US Grade 2
U9 - Age under 9 at 1 Sept (start of football season) i.e. UK Year 4/US Grade 3

___________

Some girl footballers prefer the social (coaching) side of football, some additionally like girls only matches whereas others prefer the challenge of mixed football..... at Berks County FC, we try to cover all bases ! ...

What can Berks County FC offer girl players ?

Social Coaching (year round term time Saturdays)

Girls Only Football matches (Sept to May)

Girls and Ladies football is growing quickly in the UK but more travel and flexibility is required compared with more local 'mixed' (95% boys) leagues.

The Club are members of Berkshire County Girls Football League (link to BCGFL) who play their matches on Saturdays. There is a similar Surrey Girls Sunday League.

The BCGFL Saturday format is as follows :

U7/U8 - monthly U8 girls football festivals - 1215-1330 - Kensington Park, Kensington Road, Reading RG30 2SZ
U8/U9 - monthly U9 girls football festivals - 1215-1330 - Kensington Park, Kensington Road, Reading RG30 2SZ
U9/U10 - weekly U10 girls football matches at Reading or in mixed League.
U11+ - weekly girls football league - KOs between 1000 and midday - home (Coworth Flexlands) and away games (up to 45 minutes travel in Berkshire)

Mixed football

Mixed football is now available to girls up to the age of 18.

Once registered with the Club, please let us know (girlsfootball@berkscountyfc.com) if you wish to join a mixed team. We run 'mixed' (95% boys) teams in the East Berks Football Alliance (link to EBFA) from U7 to U15 (eventually up to U18). Waiting lists normally apply but we offer coaching to waiting list players from Sept to May and then with age group squads from May to mid July when our season finishes (until Sept).

In order for us to maintain our FA Charter and confirm sessions, all players must 'register to play'
