County 2-3 Sandhurst Devels FC
Berks County FC failed to follow up their success in previous weeks when visiting basement side Sandhurst Devels FC, throwing away a tasty win that would have propelled the Swords clear of the bottom three sides.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom early on for the Bracknell side as Sean Graham opened the scoring with a well taken goal, shortly followed by Liam Bourke’s first senior goal following his promotion from the youth ranks at the club. The second half continued in the same manner with Sandhurst following the script, this was scuppered as Spencer substituted Ricky Harvie and Sean Graham for Tony Langton and Ollie Noyes. The flow of the game was disturbed and Sandhurst grabbed 2 goals through Mark Farrell, Spencer then introduced Richard Brock for Liam Bourke with minutes remaining in a bid to take a winning goal back to Bracknell, this was to no avail as Sandhurst’s Tim Grove took the winner.
3-2 the final score as Swords relearn a valuable lesson that was lost too easy. County look to Saturday where they entertain Hellenic side Stokenchurch in the Reading Invitational Senior Cup ¼ final with a potential fixture versus Wokingham & Emmbrook FC in the pipeline.
