Reserves book Cup Final place

Berks County Res 1-0 Benson Lions
Berks County Reserves took on Benson Lions in the Reading Jubilee Cup semi final. The game started with early pressure from Benson testing the County defence and forcing an early save from keeper Chris Regan. County worked their way into the game and started to create chances of their own, in the 14th minute striker Chris Searle was put through on goal only to see his attempted lob drop wide of the goal.
County did not have to wait much longer for the breakthrough they had been looking for, in the 19th minute a long throw in from Darren McNeill was met at the front post by the head of Stuart Lloyd to put county 1-0 up. This was Lloyd’s first ever goal for the club in 5 years.
Benson continued to have the majority of possession in the first half, but County were well organised and keeper Chris Regan was rarely troubled.
County made changes at half time to bring on fresh legs on the wings. The second half continued as the first had ended with Benson struggling to break through the well organised County defence.
County had chances to extend their lead, first when striker Richard Cumner failed to convert a one on one chance and secondly from a corner when centre back Matthew Wade saw his header cleared off the line.
In the end 1 goal was enough for County, a well organised team performance sees them progress into the Reading Jubilee Cup Final on Friday 8th May at Henley Town FC with a 7.30pm kick off where they will play either Reading YMCA Rockets or Woodley Town ‘A’.
