Managerial Shake up at County

As you may be aware the club's managers and committee members were due to discuss the ongoing structure of the senior section of the club going forward. Central to this re-structure was the upcoming impact of our junior sides (of which we have 2/3 at each age group) finally becoming adults in the coming years.

Unfortunately Shay Boyd has decided to step down as first team manager, he will still be involved at some level with all football at Berks County FC, however not on a weekly basis with a specific team. Some may remember that Shay was brought in to end the season, to 'steady the ship'. The managers of the senior sides have discussed the strengths that Shay had bought to us and how to now continue his fine work in bringing the sides together and building players up, as well as his fine discipline record.

We welcome back Robert Hunter, our former u21 manager has now agreed to take a side on next season which has sparked a really positive reaction from a number of current and former players, I'm sure those of you who don’t know Rob will enjoy working with him.

Wayne 'Ranieri' Parrott has agreed to continue his fine work with the Rovers team. It is worth pointing out that this side has progressed considerably under his reigns, improving by 1 league position per season and finally winning that elusive cup. I think everyone will agree that Wayne epitomises everything Berks County FC wishes to portray, in football, conduct and in the manner he works with his players.

Our A team on a Sunday morning will now be run by Phil Mortimer, Simon Taylor and Neil Logan, the three former swordsmen took our Sunday side to a very proud cup final in 2014. I know this will be run as professional outfit, in true County fashion. Current Sunday players looking to continue next season please contact me to put you in touch with Phil and Neil.

Finally, Gary will continue as a manager, continuing his fine work progressing players. I'm sure he will enjoy great success, thus putting the club in good stead going forward. I'm really pleased that Gary, Wayne and Rob are now in for the long haul, to help us reach the heights that a club like ours should be at and provide some much needed stability.

First Team:
Manager - Gary Wood
Asst Manager - Ion Soltoian

Reserve Team:
Manager - Robert Hunter

Rovers Team:
Manager - Wayne Parrott
Asst Manager - David Parrott

A Team:
Joint Manager: Phil Mortimer, Neil Logan, Simon Taylor

We are sure that all can see what we are doing and how we are trying to progress, this set up should allow player progression through the club, particularly current reserves who can progress with their manager. The one thing we are missing currently is stability and I really feel that we have now plugged the gap in that department. Please can I push you to get on the player recruitment drive and get any friends involved at Berks County FC.
